About

This site is a baby recipe swap page for mums trying to navigate the minefield that is weaning.

I’m a first-time mum with a full-time job and, when I started this site I had a very hungry little eight-month old boy, so just didn’t have the time to spend hours pouring over baby recipe books but wanted to cook tasty, homemade food that doesn’t take an hours prep time or involve a visit to the supermarket every day… Basically I wanted to be able to make tasty meals for my son out of what I already have in the fridge and kitchen cupboards.

I now have an even hungrier 15-month-old 🙂 but I enjoy doing this site so much that I’m hoping it can grow with him. The recipes we feature will still be weaning ones but also I’d like us to start sharing ones that are suitable for toddlers and young children too.

I’m certainly not the world’s best cook but I’m determined that – as much as possible at least – my little monster is gonna eat home-cooked food and obviously I want him to not only have the best, but also the tastiest meals I can make… so that’s my aim… to cook healthy food that my little one will ENJOY eating.

And that’s basically the idea behind this blog, I’ve already got some tried and tested recipes that he loves… but I’m gonna need more… and more… and more 🙂 so I figured if we all share our recipes then our little ones should get a really varied and interesting diet. So please – if you want to see your recipe up here – just email me at mymummycancook@live.co.uk – don’t forget to give your name – and I’ll get it posted up as soon as I can. Please also feel free to comment and suggest different methods/ingredients to improve my recipes, it will all help make this as fun and interactive as possible.

I’ve also recently added another dimension to mymummycancook… After being asked to review a toy for a baby review site I realised that quite often, the age that babies are starting to get interested in toys is around about the same time that their mummies are thinking about weaning, so why not try and combine the two? And so mymummycancook‘s little sister site mybabycanplay was born. I hope you enjoy reading these new reviews as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them, and, as always, please feel free to comment… its your comments that make the site work. We’ve also ventured into the travel arena recently too with the mybabycantravel section of the site… check it out 🙂

UPDATE… And finally – and most thrillingly – mymummycan… has become a brand in it’s own right. We now share the mymummycan… name with two other pages mymummycanbefabulous and mymummycanloseweight. Pop over to the mymummycan… page to find out more. 🙂

I should also say that this website is not, and should not be taken as, any kind of instructional guide on how to wean your child on or indeed when to do it. I’m not advising on nutrition, diet or what you should or shouldn’t do and I have no qualifications in nutrition or health and diet of any type. This is just what I’m doing and creating for my son. Please don’t give your child anything you haven’t already tried him or her on before, or introduce a food or texture too soon just because you saw it here… there are plenty of academic and credited ‘guides’ on what to do out there so please use them for everything apart from what this site is intended to be… a recipe swap site for mums a bit short sometimes on culinary inspiration but never on love (or common sense) when it comes to the well-being of their child.
