First Steps Baby Walker

First Steps Baby Walker from VTech

“A great toy to grow with”

First impressions: We bought the VTech First Steps Baby Walker for ‘the monkey’ when he was around eight months old as he was just starting to try and pull himself up on things and we thought that getting a toy that he would grow with would be a good idea.

We loved that the activity section of the walker could be detached, making it suitable for him to play and interact with immediately, and the bright colours and fun activities were an instant hit.

What’s good about it: ‘The monkey’ absolutely adored (and still does) the little green detachable phone and we’re forever finding it in his cot now as he takes it to bed with him and wishes everyone goodnight with it. 🙂 He also used to keep the phone held to his ear constantly while he pressed the little button that says “Well done”.

As he got older ‘the monkey’ became more interested in playing with the keyboard and now daddy and I can sit with him and play a series of notes on the keys and he will try to copy what we’ve played so it really helps to develop not only his hand/eye coordination but also his listening skills too.

The downside… The walker itself is rather light. This may sound good for parents when having to carry it home from the shops 🙂 but in actual fact can be a bit of a hazard when used on a hard floor-surface – like wood or smooth tiles as it can skid out from under the child.  Also if your little one trys to use it to pull themselves up with then it’s possible that they could pull it over. It IS much sturdier on carpet however so I’d just advise extra vigilence when using it on more ‘slippy’ surfaces.

To sum it up: Now he is walking properly ‘the monkey’ uses his First Steps Baby Walker all the time, more as a vehicle to charge around with than a walker I’d say  😉 but it certainly does get used!

On the whole a great toy to grow with, and fantastic value for money.

Mybabycanplay rating: 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
