“What impressed me most about Freddie was his versatility”

First impressions: We were bought a Freddie when our daughter Sadie was first born, he came in a bag of treats and surprises from my in laws which were very gratefully received 🙂 I had high hopes of Sadie liking the bright colours, crinkly fabric and all the other features instantly. Of course I then realised that the only thing a newborn really loves instantly is pooing, crying, feeding and sleeping. So Freddie would have to wait a little while.

What’s good about it: Sadie was about eight weeks before she took any notice of Freddie. The first thing she noticed was the mirrored section on one of his wings. Then the black and white patterns on the back of his wings seemed to catch her attention. Then the fuzzy white bit on another wing. And now she’s 21 weeks, her favourite feature is the ladybird teether toy which sits in a little pocket in another wing. Freddie jingles, crinkles, stretches, has a rainbow of colours, and the black and white reverse, he has a squeaker, a mirror, a teether and a fuzzy bit which is almost permanently soggy on ours at the moment (teeth!). He’s made of felt, satin, corduroy, velvet and plastic. He can be attached to a pram or bar over a playmat/car seat, but he’s also not too heavy for a little hand to wave him around – or in our case recently, to make him fly :-).

See that’s what impressed me most about Freddie, his versatility. The number of different colours, textures and features built into one toy means he has been the most consistently interesting toy Sadie has.

The downside… Nothing – we LOVE Freddie 🙂 The only thing that could make him even better would be if he maybe came in a little storage bag… it’s just when Freddie is in my change bag, he’s hanging out all over!

To sum it up: When a baby’s needs and interests change so much between eight weeks and 21 weeks, Freddie has something that’ll keep them interested. Very good value, for RRP of £10.49 (but as with most toys, shop around and you’ll find a Freddie bargain!)
